There are over 140,000 Roman Catholics in the country - representing about 6% of the population. There are no dioceses in the country, but Kuwait falls under the Apostolic Vicariate of Northern Arabia. The current superior is the Italian bishop Camillo Ballin. There was a cathedral in Kuwait City dedicated to the Holy Family. However, this church lost its status as a cathedral after the apostolic vicariate moved its headquarters to Bahrain. The other parishes are St. Thérèse Parish, Salmiya and Our Lady of Arabia Parish, Ahmadi.
